Key Insights
The Flame Graph helps you identify hot paths in your code by showing a visualization of the call tree. Key insight: The GC pause is invisible in the flame graph (it merges with other work) but clearly visible in the flame chart at t7. Use flame charts when you need to see when things happened. Flame Graphs can work with any CPU profiler on any operating system. My examples here use Linux perf (perf_events), DTrace, SystemTap, and ktap.
